- Experts have warned of an increase in the activity of fraudsters in the New Year's Eve period

The greatest increase in fraudulent activity is observed before holidays, vacations and during promotions, such as Black Friday. New schemes appear very rarely, while classic schemes, such as fake aggregator sites, are gradually losing popularity. Experts told Izvestia on Wednesday, December 11, about how to avoid being cheated.
Over the past two years, the number of fraudulent sites and accounts in social networks related to the sale of airline tickets has decreased six times. Such data was provided by the service "Realbilet.rf" - a project of "Aviasails", BrandSecurity and Roskachevo. At the same time, experts noted that in the pre-New Year period the activity of fraudsters traditionally increases.
"It is important to follow the rules of digital security. Particular caution should be exercised when receiving offers of discounts in social networks and messengers from alleged employees of travel companies. Reliable brands publish information about such promotions exclusively through their official channels and never sell air tickets through personal messages," said BrandSecurity CEO Ruslan Krivulin.
In the conditions of digitalization, fraudsters not only complicate their schemes, but also continue to actively use psychological influence. In this regard, Ilya Zotov, chairman of the All-Russian Association of Passengers, advised to be careful when making online purchases.
"Countering phishing requires not only technological solutions, but also attentiveness on the part of users. Fraudsters often manipulate emotions using urgent offers and tempting discounts - this can provoke rash actions. To avoid traps, it is important to remain calm, check information and not give in to pressure," he said.
Sergey Kuzmenko, head of the Center for Digital Expertise of Roskachevo, stressed that the main methods of deception now are still the creation of copies of popular sites, for example, when the address bar has a typo in the name, and fraud in social networks and messengers. Attackers create fake company accounts and offer discounts or prizes for participating in surveys.
"Scammers often create sites before the vacation season, so it's worth making sure the site is registered at least three months ago. If the site does turn out to be fake, get the company details from the offer to claim for poor quality services. Another phishing scheme is a re-payment notification. For example, when the money has already been written off, and you are offered to repeat the payment because of the "error", - specified Kuzmenko.
Earlier, on December 8, the group of companies (GC) "Garda" reported that in Telegram growing cases of fraud with the creation of fake accounts-doubles. It was noted that profiles can look identical to those belonging to friends, colleagues and relatives.
