Deputies have proposed banning the sale of pyrotechnics over the Internet in Russia

Deputies from "Fair Russia - For Truth" (SRZP) have submitted a bill to the State Duma that would restrict the online sale of fireworks and firecrackers. "Izvestia" familiarized with the document. The ban applies to sales through marketplaces and other sites that deliver goods by courier. It will be possible to buy firecrackers only in ordinary stores "from hand to hand". This is about amendments to the law on consumer protection.
"Today, online trade in pyrotechnics is practically not controlled in any way by the state, which has established quite understandable and reasonable restrictions. Anyone, including children, can buy anything they want. We regularly see the sad result of this permissiveness on New Year holidays, when people suffer as a result of improper handling of firecrackers and fireworks. Many of them are children, who got access to such dangerous toys," - emphasized the head of the faction Sergei Mironov.
In turn, the first deputy head of the faction Dmitry Gusev noted the increased responsibility when buying pyrotechnics. He specified that currently such goods can be bought without personal contact with the seller, including through marketplaces with delivery. This means that there is no age verification.
"It is also unclear how dangerous goods are delivered, whether safety rules are observed," Gusev added.
Earlier, December 7, it was reported that among Russians who use pyrotechnics in the New Year, 20% choose Bengal lights and Roman candles, 11% give preference to salutes, fireworks and clappers and only 2% launch firecrackers and rockets. This is stated in the results of the survey of "Sber Eapteca" and World Vision Clinic. At the same time, World Vision chief ophthalmologist Zarina Kurachinova said that for effective eye protection, one should always keep a safe distance from pyrotechnic devices - at least 20-30 meters.
