Rescuers in Romania have rescued a Ukrainian evader from Kharkiv Region together with his kitten from a 400-meter-deep mountain gorge in the Carpathian Mountains. This was reported by the Associated Press (AP) on December 10.

Vladyslav Duda, 28, decided to flee mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) through the southwest of the country, but was unable to resist the extreme mountain conditions. The man was found "soaked and frozen". He was holding a red kitten named Persik against his chest.

Duda believes that he and his pet managed to survive by a miracle, because temperatures in the Carpathians in the current period fall below 10 degrees Celsius.

"It's like a dream - after what I went through. I only hoped to be found and rescued. Peach warmed my heart and kept my faith alive," the man said, commenting on his rescue.

Peach is currently being kept at a veterinary clinic. He is recovering from malnutrition.

It is noted that four days before Duda and Peach were found by rescuers, they ran out of food, and melted snow helped them survive.

The man was treated, he was diagnosed with hypothermia.

According to the agency, since February 2022 in the Romanian region of Maramures 160 men who sought to escape mobilization have been rescued. 16 men were found dead in the process.

On the eve, December 9, it was reported that in Odessa, employees of military commissaries (TCC) began to use folding spikes "urchins" to stop cars.

Earlier, on December 5, captured AFU serviceman Maksym Nazarenko said that he was forcibly mobilized.

Ukraine has been under martial law since February 2022. Then the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky (term of office expired on May 20) signed a decree on general mobilization, its effect was repeatedly extended. In April 2024, the head of the Kiev regime approved the law on toughening mobilization.
