Ukraine admits error in assessing Russia's potential

Ukrainian special services and military analysts have underestimated Russia's potential in the conflict. This was stated on Tuesday, December 10, by Vladyslav Seleznev, former speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
"We all remember well those illusions of ours, when we hoped that at the beginning of October the offensive potential of theRussian army would be emasculated. It did not happen that way," he said on air of NTA TV channel.
According to Seleznev, Kiev underestimated the capabilities to produce weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). After a while, they realized there that Russia was producing far more drones than they had anticipated.
"It turned out that they [Russia] are capable of producing both two and even more than two thousand drones," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Seleznev also said that Kiev had overestimated the capabilities of the AFU personnel, adding that the soldiers could not cope with the high psycho-emotional pressure.
Earlier in the day, the British newspaper The Financial Times reported that the AFU admits that there are big problems in the construction of the defense line and it is very demoralizing for the soldiers. It was noted that Kiev has decentralized funding and lacks control over the construction of fortifications.
On the same day, the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergei Naryshkin, said that the AFU is on the verge of collapse and the situation on the front is not in Kiev's favor.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
