A cosmetologist gave tips on cleansing facial skin

The most important stage of skin care is cleansing. It prepares the skin for the next stages of skin care. Natalia Tkachenko, cosmetic chemist and founder of the Roz Mary beauty brand, told Izvestia about how to choose the right product for cleansing the skin.
According to the expert, there are many formats of cleansing products, such as gel, foam, milk, creams, powders and oils. It is important to choose the product that is most convenient to use and best suited for your skin. Despite the different formats, all of these products contain surfactants (surfactants) that provide lather and help to cleanse the skin. The feel on your skin will depend on the specific surfactants in the formulation, their amount, and the presence of other ingredients that soften the surfactant's action.
"The most aggressive surfactants are sulfates. They very roughly degrease the skin and, with regular use, damage the lipid barrier. As a result, you can get dehydration, tightness and flakiness," Tkachenko notes.
According to her, the most gentle method of skin cleansing is enzymes. They gently destroy the connections between keratinized cells without damaging the skin. For example, in gels and foams for washing are involved enzymes from cherimoya. They provide easy and unobtrusive foam formation. If the product is also enriched with moisturizing ingredients, such cleansing will be ideal for even the most sensitive skin.
Another type of enzymes are those found in papaya and pineapple. These are usually found in wash formulas in the form of powders. The advantages of these enzymes are that they do not include water, they do not require the addition of preservatives, thickeners and other excipients. Thus, powdered washing products can be completely natural. Due to their concentrated composition, they provide deeper cleansing of the skin compared to gels and foams, making them more suitable for oily or combination skin.
Hydrophilic oil, if used frequently, can, on the contrary, dry out the skin. The specialist advises using it to remove waterproof makeup. In order for the oil to effectively wash off the skin and cope even with persistent makeup, it includes surfactants in its composition.
"If the skin squeaks after washing with any product, it means that the product degreases the skin quite intensively and with regular use thereafter it can lead to dehydration. A gentle cleanser does not cause squeaking and tightness of the skin. Orient on the sensations after washing, "- summarized Tkachenko.
Earlier, on November 27, dermatovenerologist, pediatric dermatologist, cosmetologist, leading specialist of the network of clinics "Semeynaya" Marina Kartasheva told "Izvestia" about ways to restore weathered skin. According to her, to prevent weathered skin, cold creams are used to protect the skin from moisture loss with subsequent disruption of its integrity and barrier functions.
