Lukashenko said about the unfolding struggle of the main world players in Syria


The struggle of the world's major political players is currently unfolding in Syria, which is a lesson for the future for Belarus. This was stated by President of the country Alexander Lukashenko on December 10.
He noted that the "mess," which is going on in Damascus, is only the beginning, after which the real struggle for power should unfold.
"There is a struggle of the main players of the world in Syria. This is a lesson for us. We must determine our own fate ourselves. We must save our country!" - BelTA quoted Lukashenko as saying.
The Belarusian leader also emphasized that Syria was once made a testing ground.
Earlier on December 10, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Bashar al-Assad's departure from the post of President of Syria was his personal decision. He also noted that Russia continues dialog with the countries of the region, adding that there is wide-ranging cooperation with a number of states. According to Peskov, these processes intend to continue.
On December 8, it became known that Assad, along with his family, is in Moscow. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, he resigned as head of state. After that, Assad instructed to carry out the transfer of power peacefully. The coalition of revolutionary and opposition forces of Syria said to work on the formation of a transitional authority. In turn, the Prime Minister of the SAR Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali said that he himself is ready to cooperate with any elected leadership.
Against this backdrop, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the termination of the demarcation agreement with Syria, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) deployed forces along the Syrian border under the pretext of ensuring the security of communities in the Golan Heights and Israeli citizens.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on December 7 advocated for peace in Syria and said there are no territorial claims against the neighboring country. He added that Syria belongs to Syrians with all its ethnic and religious elements.
US Republican Party Senator Randal Paul on December 9 called on the authorities to withdraw US troops from the territories of Syria. He noted that 900 American soldiers scattered across Syria are a target, not a deterrent. In turn, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the United States wants to avoid fragmentation of Syria and mass migration of its citizens. According to him, the United States should be ready to support the Syrian people who are beginning to rebuild their country and choose a new direction.
At the same time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said Russia would do everything possible to achieve sustainable and long-term peace in the Middle East.
The situation in Syria escalated as a result of a major attack by armed formations in Aleppo and Idlib, which began on November 28 and led to the Syrian army's retaliatory actions against the militants.
