Brazilian president hospitalized for brain hemorrhage


Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was urgently hospitalized due to a cerebral hemorrhage. This was reported on Tuesday, December 10, by the press service of the Sírio-Libanes Hospital in the city of São Paulo.
"President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was last night (Dec. 9) at the Sírio-Libanes Hospital to undergo an MRI scan after feeling a headache. The MRI showed a hemorrhage as a result of an accident in the house that occurred on October 19," UOL news portal quoted the clinic's press release as saying.
It is specified that he underwent surgery to remove the hematoma. At the moment, Lula da Silva is in stable condition in the intensive care unit.
Earlier, on October 20, Reuters reported that the Brazilian president will not go to the BRICS summit, following the recommendations of doctors after a head injury received at home. According to a medical report from a hospital in Brasilia, Lula da Silva suffered a laceration to the back of his head. He was advised to avoid long-distance air travel.
