On Tuesday, December 10, Alexander Shishonin, a rehabilitation doctor, candidate of medical sciences and head doctor of the clinic, explained the impact of walking on increasing life expectancy.

According to the specialist, the secret lies in the cell biology of the body.

There are mesenchymal stromal cells in the bone marrow, which differentiate into any "specialized" cells of our body - cartilage, bone, fat and other cells, i.e. they renew the heart, liver, kidneys, intestines and other organs. If the mesenchymal cells don't work well, the organs become decrepit.

"And since the most bone marrow is located in the bones of the pelvis and legs, when we move our legs, walk, we improve the supply of oxygen and nutrients to bone marrow cells and give these cells the opportunity to multiply," - said the doctor in conversation with the website aif.ru.

Shishonin noted that any amount of walking is useful to reduce the risks of chronic diseases.

"Ideally, a half-hour walk before going to bed is desirable (an hour is even better). And in the morning you can do health-improving walking at a fast pace in the street or on a treadmill - at home or in the gym. The speed should be selected so that the pulse does not fall below 120 beats per minute, but also does not exceed 140", - said the specialist.

The rehabilitologist emphasized that it is especially useful to walk more after the age of 40. Regular walking will help to add physical activity, which will improve metabolism and overall health.

November 26, psychologist Alexandra Miller told Life.Ru that conscious walking is a form of meditation in motion. It helps to reduce anxiety and strengthen the connection between mind and body.

During mindful walking a person focuses on breathing and the environment, often plunging into meditative states. Such practice allows you to restore internal balance, so it is popular, reports 360.ru.

In addition, walking develops concentration and increases activity, RT reports.

Earlier, on December 8, doctor-dietitologist and expert in the field of healthy eating service Level Kitchen Tatiana Meshcheriakova told Izvestia about the most frequent mistakes of thinning people for the holiday and called for a healthy preparation of the form in a short period of time.

On the first weekend of October since 2015 the All-Russian Walking Day is celebrated, residents of the capital were invited to the northern walking classes within the framework of the project "Moscow Walking". The aim of the project is to attract citizens to a healthy lifestyle and show that walking in the conditions of a modern metropolis is possible at any time of the year, reports the agency of city news "Moscow".
