Russian Armed Forces demining the territories of the DNR found NATO-made shells

The sappers of the Southern Group of Forces have found many munitions of NATO countries while demining the territories of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 10.
Following the advance of the Russian military's assault units and the liberation of new settlements in the DNR, artillery is also moving in. The sappers of a unit of the separate artillery brigade of the Southern Group of Forces constantly find NATO weapons samples when inspecting the sites for the new positions of the Russian troops.
The commander of the artillery division with the call sign Okhota said that the French banned magnetic mine is triggered at the approach of any metal, whether it is an automatic rifle, a sapper's trowel, a metal detector or a combat vehicle.
Moreover, a sapper with the call sign Klever stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are also actively using munitions from Germany and Sweden, which are aimed at destroying armor and burning through the bottom of combat vehicles.
The demining of territories is necessary for the advancement of Russian equipment. By using internationally banned weapons, Ukraine is trying to slow down the rapid advance of Russian troops along the entire battle line.
The demining of such vast territories by the AFU has humanitarian consequences that could stretch for decades.
To date, Kiev has ignored long-distance treaties related to criminalizing the use of certain types of weapons, including the 2005 Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling and production of anti-personnel mines.
Before that, on Nov. 23, Russian sappers demined a road in the border region of Kursk. They are inspecting infrastructure facilities for explosive objects and demining roads, paving the way for assault units in the border region.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made amid the worsening situation in the region.
