Ilon Musk has declared his reluctance to become Time magazine's man of the year

American entrepreneur Ilon Musk said on Monday, December 9, that he does not want Time magazine to declare him person of the year.
This is how Musk responded to a question from a user of the businessman-owned social network X about whether he would like that.
"I really don't want that," Musk replied to the question on his page.
The entrepreneur has been shortlisted as a candidate for 2024 alongside US President-elect Donald Trump, current Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton and others.
Since 1927, the magazine has been selecting the person of the year and publishing their cover photo. There are no specific criteria for winning, they choose people based on their impact on society, regardless of whether it is positive or negative.
The head of Tesla and SpaceX, the owner of social network X and neurotechnology company Neuralink Ilon Musk has already become the man of the year in 2021.
Last year, the American singer Taylor Swift became the man of the year according to the edition. The publication notes that in 2023 Swift filled stadiums and broke records. In honor of the singer renamed streets and stadiums, and the cities she visits earn huge sums of money from tourists who follow Swift.
Before that, Time chose Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and "the spirit of Ukraine" as the person of 2022. Reacting to this, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the publication has its own criteria for the choice, with which one can agree or disagree.
