Russia has named the top 35 economically strong entities in Russia


According to the results of the third quarter,Moscow retained its position of the leading region with the highest economic potential in Russia. Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO) and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YNAO) are catching up with the capital, sharing the second place by this indicator. They are followed by the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Tatarstan, Tyumen, Sverdlovsk, Irkutsk Regions and Perm Territory.
These are the results of the research of the Civil Society Development Foundation "Index of Economic Potential of Russian Regions. Top-35" following the results of the third quarter on the basis of data from the Federal Tax Service and Rosstat. As the authors explain in the document, their goal was to assess the efficiency of the real sector of the regions' economy, which ensures the well-being of the population of the territories.
The study understands economic potential as the level of development of the real sector of the economy. It is determined by the authors according to three criteria: the amount of VAT actually paid to the budget, the level of average monthly wages in the region and the total profit of enterprises and organizations in the region.
Krasnodar Krai, Samara and Chelyabinsk Regions, Primorsky Krai, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Tula, Belgorod, Vologda and Orenburg Regions were in the second ten.
The third ten of the rating were headed by Komi, Udmurtia, Bashkiria, Kaliningrad, Tomsk, Leningrad, Sakhalin, Kaluga Oblasts, Omsk Oblast and Yakutia (29th place), Voronezh and Yaroslavl Oblasts (30th place).
The Rostov region, Vladimir and Magadan regions (32nd place), Ryazan region, Khabarovsk Krai and Kursk region close the study.
