Qatar says it is working to achieve strategic partnership with Russian Federation

Doha is interested in strategic partnership with Russia, Qatar's Ambassador to Moscow Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Thani told Izvestia.
"Russia and Qatar have long-standing, traditionally friendly relations based on mutual respect, understanding and mutual benefit. Therefore, our relations are strong. These relations are developing under the leadership of our leaders: His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and Russian President Vladimir Putin. We are working on developing these relations to reach the level of strategic partnership," he said.
On December 7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the margins of the Doha Forum. They discussed the main topics of the forum, including the situation in Syria and Palestine.
