The West had not only economic but also military plans for Ukraine. Journalist Edward Karolczuk shared this opinion in his article published in the Myśl Polska magazine on 9 December.

According to the journalist, the problems in Ukraine started immediately after the announcement of the collapse of the USSR. The country's national wealth and natural resources were looted, and some formations of the industrial and financial oligarchy sought to deepen ties with Western countries.

"The West had not only economic but also military plans for Ukraine. The seizure of Ukraine by Western capital is just an 'appetizer' to this. The main dish that Western capital dreams of is the great Russia with its countless natural riches," the article says.

Discussing the current situation in the region, Karolchuk noted that the US and most EU countries are seeking to escalate hostilities. He added that the Kiev authorities are taking part in a conflict in which there is "no winning strategy for them because there is no winning situation."

"In order to assess the ongoing conflict and the policy of their government, Ukrainians should look at whether they are better off than before the <military operation>, and not be content with thinking that things are bad for their enemy as well," the journalist added.

Earlier, on December 5, the British magazine Spectator wrote that the division of Ukraine would come after the end of Volodymyr Zelensky 's presidential term (the term expired on May 20). It was noted that Zelensky's popularity among Ukrainians is falling rapidly due to his decisions and inept policies; in the current situation, the head of the Kiev regime finds himself "between a hammer and an anvil" due to the anger of the people.

Prior to that, on November 29, political scientist Alexander Asafov noted in a conversation with Izvestia that the Western establishment, against the backdrop of Republican Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election, is developing various scenarios for Ukraine. The option under which the country's territories would be divided among Western countries is also widely discussed. He also emphasized that such thoughts about the division of Ukraine have nothing to do with reality, as it is senseless to solve such issues without Russia.

In the same month, The New York Times wrote that Zelensky could sell his country's mineral resources worth trillions of dollars,Gazeta.Ruadded.

On November 2, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Ukraine would be in Western bondage for decades and pay for its debts with its residents, subsoil and territories.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
