Seven people arrested in Dagestan in case of preparation of terrorist attacks

In Dagestan, seven people are in custody on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. This was reported by the Sovetsky district court of Makhachkala on December 9.

"The Sovetsky district court of the city of Makhachkala received petitions of the investigation on election of preventive measures in the form of detention in respect of seven residents of the Republic of Dagestan, suspected of committing crimes under part 1 of article 205.4, part 3 of article 223.1, part 1 of article 30 and paragraph "a" of part 2 of article 205, part 5 of article 33 and part 1 of Art. 223.1, part 5 of Art. 33, part 1 of Art. 30 and part 1 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the court said in a statement on its page on the social network "VKontakte".

These articles provide punishment for committing such crimes as the organization of a terrorist community and participation in it (Art. 205.4), a terrorist act (Art. 205) and illegal manufacture of explosives (Art. 223.1).

The investigation materials indicate that the suspects share the ideology of a terrorist group banned in Russia and united in a terrorist community. Seven defendants were making improvised explosive devices, planning to detonate them in military units and buildings of the Interior Ministry and the Federal Security Service, which are located in Dagestan.

The court considered these materials and on their basis chose a measure of restraint for the suspects in the form of arrest for two months - until February 2025. The defendants can appeal this court ruling to a higher instance.

Earlier, on December 2, the Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala arrested five suspects in preparation of terrorist attacks for two months. They formed a terrorist community in the Kizlyar district of Dagestan and bought components for explosive devices, but law enforcers seized them.
