Putin awarded Yevkurov and Goremykin the military rank of army general


Russian President Vladimir Putin has conferred the military rank of army general on Deputy Defense Ministers Yunus-Bek Yevkurov and Viktor Goremykin. The corresponding decree was posted on December 9 on the portal of official publication of legal acts.
"To confer the military rank of army general to servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Goremykin Viktor Petrovich and Yunus-Bek Bamatgirevich Yevkurov," the document reads.
Also by the decree, Putin awarded the rank of Colonel-General to Deputy Defense Minister Andrei Bulyga, and the rank of Admiral to Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Vladimir Vorobyov. Also, Apti Alaudinov, deputy head of the main directorate for military and political work of the Russian Defense Ministry and commander of the Akhmat special forces, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general.
Earlier in the day, the head of state presented "Gold Star" medals to military men awarded the title of Hero of Russia in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace. The ceremony was timed to coincide with the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland. More than 300 servicemen attended the ceremony.
At the awarding ceremony, Putin said that Russia will continue to rely on the heroes of special operations as the country's elite. The military men of the Russian Army are reliable and brave people, they put service to the Motherland above all else, the president said. He also reminded that a special personnel training program "Time of Heroes" is working for the special operation participants.
