Almost 2 thousand crimes involving bribes were committed in Moscow this year. This was announced on December 9 by Boris Sokolinsky, head of the department for supervision over the implementation of legislation on combating corruption of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.

"Metropolitan prosecutors registered almost 2 thousand crimes of corruption in the first nine months of 2024 on the territory of Moscow, more than 360 criminal cases of this category were sent to district courts," he told Vedomosti.

In the process of prosecutors' inspections of officials' compliance with anti-corruption legislation, more than 1.5 thousand persons who committed violations were revealed, more than 400 of them were brought to disciplinary responsibility, four people were deprived of their positions due to loss of confidence, Sokolinsky explained.

He also noted that if the violator of the law on corruption prefers to resign at will to avoid responsibility, the relevant materials will be transferred to the prosecutor's office to complete the verification.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the property of Vyacheslav Vakhrin, Deputy Governor of the Tyumen Region, and Alexei Gotsyk, Director of LLC Specialized Developer Vostok Development, against whom a criminal case on corruption is being investigated, was arrested for the amount of 150 million rubles.

Basmanny court of Moscow arrested Vakhrin on June 8. The defendant is accused of committing a crime under Part 6 Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receipt of a bribe on a particularly large scale"). The next day, the Tyumen Region government announced its readiness to assist the investigation into the case of the deputy head of the region.
