Construction of the main section of Russia's first high-speed railroad between Moscow and St. Petersburg is scheduled for 2025. This was reported to journalists on December 9 by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Alexei Shilo.
"But on this main section, where we have just provided for the overpass passage of the main line itself and so on, we will have the design documentation ready, we hope, in the first half of next year. After that it will be possible to start physical construction", - said Shilo.
He also explained that the work on the High-Speed Railway consists of seven stages. At the moment the entrances are being built in the cities.
High-Speed Railway is an electrified double-track railway line for operation of trains with speeds from 200 to 400 km/h.
On November 8, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev said that the high-speed rail line between Moscow and St. Petersburg is planned to run 41 trains manufactured in Russia in 2028.
Earlier, on September 24, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zverev said that the price of a ticket for the Moscow - St. Petersburg High-Speed Railway is expected to be 8.9 thousand rubles at the start of the movement in the third quarter of 2028.
Theidea of building an HSM between Moscow and St. Petersburg was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin last August at the opening ceremony of the capital's MCD-3. He pointed out that the travel time along such a highway would be 2 hours and 15 minutes instead of the current four hours.
