- The Agency for Strategic Initiatives explained the interest of young Russians in business

In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of young individual entrepreneurs (IE) and self-employed in Russia. This trend is due to many factors that make self-employment an attractive choice for young people, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives told Izvestia on December 9.
"With the development of the economy and the emergence of new opportunities, many young people are looking for alternative sources of income. Self-employment allows to adapt to changes in the labor market, as well as diversify sources of income, combining the main activity and this form of employment", - noted there.
Experts also added that with the development of the Internet, young people have access to many resources and training materials, which inspires and motivates them to start their own businesses, drawing ideas from successful examples.
In addition, the government is actively pursuing a policy to popularize and support entrepreneurship, including youth entrepreneurship. At the federal and regional levels, there are a large number of programs to support the creation and development of business, and there are tax benefits for the self-employed, grants and subsidies for aspiring entrepreneurs, ASI recalled.
"In addition, the introduction of the official status of "self-employment" and the definition of work rules also had an impact on the increase in the number of people engaged in this activity, since previously they were often not officially registered. Young people are striving for independence and self-realization. Creating their own business becomes not only a way to earn money, but also an opportunity to realize their ideas and dreams," the agency stressed.
Earlier in the day it was reported that the number of IE and self-employed under 25 years of age at the end of the first half of 2024 increased to 2.7 million people. Since 2019, when the national project to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) was launched, their number has increased sixfold, follows from the Ministry of Economic Development's report on the state of SMEs.
