The Russian army has destroyed more than 200 militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk direction. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on December 9.

"Over the day the losses of the AFU amounted to more than 200 servicemen, two tanks, eight armored fighting vehicles, two vehicles and three mortars were destroyed," the ministry said.

In addition, units of the group of troops "North" struck enemy formations near the settlements of Viktorovka, Guevo, Kurilovka and others.

Also in six localities of the Sumy region of Ukraine, the Russian army hit the AFU manpower and equipment.

Earlier in the day it was reported that calculations of 122-millimeter towed howitzers D-30 of the Caspian Flotilla marine infantry from the grouping of troops "North" destroyed armored vehicles, fortified firing positions and living force of the AFU in the border area of Kursk region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The operation to destroy the militants continues.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
