"On the instructions of our president [Russia's Vladimir Putin] and the governor of the Moscow region [Andrei Vorobyov], the main New Year's tree of the country was chosen today. For us, this is a great responsibility and a big day in the history of our forestry, which has been designated as the place [for the log cabin] for the third time," said Evgeny Agulov, chairman of the Moscow Region Forestry Committee.
The work to prepare for the log cabin began back in the summer and was carried out jointly with the presidential administration and public organizations. School forestry organizations of the region also took part in the preparation.
The tree was selected according to all established parameters. Its age is 90 years, its height is 25 meters, and the span of branches is 8 meters.
Traditionally, the tree will be exhibited in the center of Moscow on Sobornaya Square.
Earlier, on December 6, it was reported that in the capital on Red Square began work GUM-Katok and fair. The theme of festival decorations this year was gingerbread houses, in each of which guests can buy festive souvenirs and taste traditional New Year's treats. It was specified that at the main skating rink of Russia you can meet New Year's Eve. The session will start on December 31 at 22:00 and will last until 02:00 on January 1, the ticket price is 12,025 rubles.
