Peskov said there was no meeting with Assad on Putin's schedule

Russian leader Vladimir Putin 's schedule does not include meetings with former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. This was announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on December 9.
"There is no such meeting in the president's official schedule. I have nothing to tell you about Mr. Assad's whereabouts right now," he said at a briefing.
Asked whether the Kremlin would release a report on his asylum, Peskov said the government was "not obliged to do so."
"Of course, such a decision cannot be made without the head of state, and this is his decision," he added.
On the eve, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that after talks with the opposition, Assad had decided to resign as head of state and leave the country, instructing him to conduct a transfer of power peacefully. Russia is in contact with the Syrian opposition and is taking measures for the safety of its citizens. It was later confirmed that Assad and his family had arrived in Moscow.
On the same day, Syria's national coalition of revolutionary and opposition forces said it was working to form a transitional authority.
Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali said that most of the Syrian government ministers remain in Damascus. He also emphasized that he is ready to cooperate with any leadership chosen by the people and noted that a new stage has begun in Syria's history.
The situation in Syria escalated as a result of a major attack by militias in Aleppo and Idlib, which began on November 28 and led to the Syrian army's retaliation against the militants.
