Medvedchuk calls Ukraine the poorest and most corrupt country in Europe

Ukraine has become the poorest and most corrupt country in Europe in its attempts to become part of Europe for 10 years. This was stated by the chairman of the council of the Other Ukraine movement, Viktor Medvedchuk, on December 9.
"For more than 10 years Ukraine has been going "to Europe", but this path has brought it neither wealth, nor peace, nor prosperity. On the contrary, Ukraine on this path has become the poorest and most corrupt country in Europe and the most endangered in the world," reads the publication on the movement's website.
Medvedchuk pointed out that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, is telling the collective West that Ukrainians will die but will allegedly not go with Russia. According to the chairman of the movement, the Ukrainian leader receives hundreds of billions of dollars for such promises. In addition, the politician added that Zelensky sold the Ukrainian people and lands, and when he talks about "a just and long-term peace", he speaks exclusively about the long-term and infinity of his power.
"Today every citizen of Ukraine has the opportunity to live in a strong, respected, legal, rich and dynamically developing country. And this country is called Russia," Medvedchuk concluded.
Earlier, on 6 December, former Verkhovna Rada deputy and member of the international public movement Other Ukraine Volodymyr Oliynyk said in a conversation with Izvestiya that Zelensky's office encourages Verkhovna Rada deputies for decisions convenient for him. According to him, the current parliament is ready for anything just to extend its powers and avoid being sent to the front.
Before that, on December 2, Major-General Dmytro Marchenko, who quit the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that the level of corruption in the country was global. According to him, business, among others, is losing its hands because of corruption. Marchenko noted that businessmen now refuse to help the Ukrainian army and increasingly want to close their businesses.
On 30 October, former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, speaking at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, criticized the Ukrainian government for serving the interests of corrupt officials. The former president accused the Ukrainian government of ignoring the main priority of the Ukrainian budget, namely the funding of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Cases of corruption in Ukraine have been actively covered in the media since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict in February 2022. Despite Zelensky's statement in early November 2022 about the absence of fraud by officials in the country, similar situations have been repeated.
