The scenario for the termination of the International Space Station (ISS) will be clarified with the arrival of the new NASA administration, the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, said on December 9.

"The plan together with our American colleagues is to vault from orbit somewhere around the turn of 2030. The final scenario will probably still be refined, including with the arrival of the new NASA administration. Well, at least with the old administration we discussed that it is somewhere around the turn of 2030," he said in an interview with RBC.

According to Borisov, Russia is obliged to replace the Russian segment of the international station with its own station to avoid a break in the program of manned flights.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian orbital station project, despite the name, is open and all friendly countries are invited to participate.

As reported by the TV channel CBS News, December 4, US President-elect Donald Trump announced that the new head of NASA will be businessman Jared Isaacman, who has experience of flights into space.

Earlier, September 12, Borisov said that "Roscosmos" and NASA will continue to work on the program of cross-flights to the ISS after the spring of 2025. The fact of the continuation of cooperation in this area confirmed and the U.S. side.

In April 2023, the Russian government extended the operation of the Russian segment of the ISS for another five years - until 2028. In the same month, the head of NASA Bill Nelson said that the station will be removed from orbit in 2030-2031. In turn, Borisov later also linked the decision to extend the ISS operation beyond 2028 to its condition.
