Ebeko volcano in the Kuril Islands threw ash to a height of 5 km

In the Northern Kurils on the volcano Ebeko recorded ash emission at a height of 5 km. This was reported on December 9 in the State Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Sakhalin region.

"We received information that on the volcano Ebeko (height - 1156 m, located 7 km from the town of Severo-Kurilsk, in the northern part of the Vernadsky Ridge) there was an ash emission at a height of 5 km. The plume spread in the northern direction for a distance of more than 5 km," - stated in the message of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations in Telegram-channel.

It is noted that in the city of Severo-Kurilsk ashfall, the smell of hydrogen sulfide and the threat to the population is not. At the same time, there were no calls and complaints from the population.

Earlier, on November 13, Ebeko volcano in the Kurils threw ash to a height of 1.4 km. The regional Emergencies Ministry specified that the ashfall and the smell of hydrogen sulfide in the town of Severo-Kurilsk was not observed. There were no calls and complaints from the population.

Before that, on October 31, at the volcano Ebeko in the Sakhalin region recorded ash emission height of 2.5 km. The plume spread in the eastern direction at a distance of more than 5 km.

Ebeko is located in the north of Paramushir. The height of the volcano is 1156 meters. It has been assigned an orange color code of danger for aviation. This code is assigned to volcanoes that show increased activity with a high probability of eruption.
