Former Interior Ministry officer Georgy Satyukov, who specialized in combating financial fraud, had his property worth more than 2.1 billion rubles seized as part of a criminal investigation for bribery for 5 billion rubles. This was reported by the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, to RIA Novosti on December 9.

"In the criminal case against the former head of the K Department of the Russian Interior Ministry's Bureau of Special Technical Measures Georgy Satyukov, property worth more than 2.1 billion rubles has been seized," Bastrykin said.

The head of the IC noted that the bribe-taker Satyukov and his accomplice Dmitry Sokolov were able to legalize part of the money "by converting it into fiat money for the purchase of expensive jewelry, securities, movable and immovable property, including outside the Russian Federation." The property is registered both to the accused and their relatives.

At the moment, measures are being taken to locate and extradite Satyukov and Sokolov, Bastrykin added.

Earlier, on July 10, the media reported about the arrest of assets of the ex-MIA officers in the case of a record bribe received by Satyukov from the administrator of the crypto exchange World Exchange Services Pte. Ltd. Alexei Ivanov in bitcoins and ethereum.

Before that, on April 16, it was reported that the ex-policeman and his colleague illegally received the above amount from March 2019 to October 2021. The defendants in the criminal case were arrested in absentia and declared wanted, they managed to leave the country and go into hiding.
