The position of the first Deputy Secretary of State may get the former US Ambassador to Mexico Christopher Landau. This was announced on December 8 by the elected American President Donald Trump.
"I am pleased to nominate Christopher Landau for the position of first deputy secretary of state of the United States," reads the message published on Trump's page on the social network Truth Social.
Trump added that Landau, as US ambassador to Mexico, worked to reduce illegal migration, bringing it down to the lowest level in history.
Earlier in the day, Trump announced that he would appoint Michael Anton to head the State Department's political planning division. It is noted that in the first presidential term of Trump, he was actually the President's advisor on strategic communications.
Before that, on December 6, it became known that Trump appointed an investor, former Director of the financial company PayPal David Sachs responsible for the policy of the US administration in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and cryptocurrencies. The president-elect noted that Sachs will focus on ensuring US leadership in both areas.
The election for the 47th president of the United States took place on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
