The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) may be preparing for a large-scale strike on Yemen. This was reported on December 8 by the state broadcaster Kan with reference to an Israeli official.

It is specified that such a strike should be a "painful signal" to the Yemeni Houthis from the rebel movement "Ansar Allah", who continue to conduct rocket attacks on Israeli territories. As noted in the publication, IDF representatives noted a decrease in attacks from Iraq.

Earlier, on December 1, the Houthis reported that a missile hit an important target in Tel Aviv. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria noted that the target was "successfully hit." He added that the Houthis intend to "redouble military operations using rockets and drones" amid Israel's ongoing crimes in the Gaza Strip.

On Nov. 22, Saria said that Yemen's Houthis struck a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile at Israel's Nevatim airbase in the Negev region. It successfully reached its target. He added that such operations will not stop until "Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon stops."

Prior to that, on Nov. 17, Saria noted that the Hussein carried out unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) strikes on a target in the city of Eilat in southern Israel. However, he did not specify when exactly the attack took place.

The Houthis began striking ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since last November in protest of Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip. On the night of Jan. 12, in response to their actions, the U.S. and Britain launched an attack on Houthi targets in Yemen. The White House said the strikes on movement-controlled areas of the country were defensive in nature. It was also claimed at the time that the strikes were carried out to protect international vessels.
