The governor of Kherson Region, Volodymyr Saldo, has called the Ukrainian Armed Forces' (AFU) strikes on civilian objects and civilians an inhuman agony. He told RIA Novosti on December 9.

According to him, the number of strikes on civilian vehicles and objects - stores, markets - has increased on the part of Ukrainian militants.

"They hit ambulances, they hit stores, they hit markets. That's exactly the kind of activity that has now started to increase for some reason. It speaks of some kind of, you know, it's already hard for me to even call it... It's an inhuman agony," Saldo said and added that the Ukrainian army is no longer fighting Russian military, but civilians.

He said the Kiev regime strikes and destroys civilians to "create a situation in which people will be afraid."

"But people are still not afraid," Saldo emphasized.

Earlier, on September 7, Saldo said that the AFU was using brutal methods of attacking the population of the Kherson region by targeting residents and cars with attack drones. He noted that Ukrainian drone operators are purposefully looking for aerial casualties and tracking down people to strike civilians.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
