The IFRC said that it will continue to provide humanitarian aid in Syria


The provision of humanitarian aid in Syria will continue despite the situation in the country. This was reported by the press service of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) on December 8.
"The IFRC is closely following the latest developments and the humanitarian situation in Syria. <...> [The organization] is deeply committed to continuing to provide humanitarian assistance," the publication reads.
The IFRC stressed that the organization's Syrian-Arab branches continue to deliver relief supplies, food, water, medicines, and will also continue to provide emergency medical assistance to citizens.
Earlier in the day, WHO Director General Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus announced the organization's intention to continue its work in Syria. He noted the need to protect health workers, institutions, transport and supplies, and called on all parties to comply with this requirement of the organization.
It also became known about the Syrian formations taking control of the prison "Seidnaya" in the suburbs of Damascus. They released all prisoners. Opposition forces also stormed the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
