Russia and Ukraine are not negotiating the extension of gas transit to Europe from 2025. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to Izvestia.

"Russia and Ukraine have no such negotiations," he said, answering the question whether Moscow is negotiating with Kiev on the transit extension.

At the same time, the question remains whether Russia expects gas supplies to continue in 2025 to Slovakia and Austria, which remain among Russia's main energy partners in the European Union.

"I will not comment on this issue right now. It is still of an uncertain nature in terms of whether there will be transit from January 1 through Ukraine or not," Novak explained.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, said that Ukraine does not intend to extend the gas transit agreement with Russia, which expires at the end of 2024.
