Reuters, which reported on the possible death of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, should refute its false news. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on December 8.

Earlier, Reuters, citing two sources in Syria, reported on the "high probability of Assad's death" due to the unusual movement of the plane, which, according to their information, was carrying the country's former president. The text of the publication was later changed to state that "the agency cannot confirm who was on board."

"I wonder if Reuters, which reported on Assad's "hilly-likely" demise, will refute itself?" - Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel.

She also emphasized that this is the spread of fakes, which are "so zealously fought against" in Western countries.

Earlier in the day, Reuters reported that the Syrian President left Damascus. It was specified that the Syrian Air plane left the airport of the capital and headed towards the coastal region of Syria, but then turned around before disappearing from the map.

The Russian Foreign Ministry later reported that Bashar al-Assad, as a result of negotiations with the opposition, decided to leave the post of head of state and leave the country, instructing to carry out the transfer of power peacefully. After it became known that former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad flew to Moscow.

Also on Sunday, the AFP news agency reported about the fire in the presidential palace of Bashar al-Assad in Damascus. And Syria's National Coalition of Revolutionary and Opposition Forces said it was working to form a "transitional governing body."

On November 29, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the opposition activation part of the US plan amid Israel's defeat in Lebanon. The White House denied its involvement in the events.

On November 28, it was reported that armed formations launched a major attack in Aleppo and Idlib, and the Syrian Army began to repel it, causing serious damage to equipment and manpower of militants.
