Armed men stole three official cars, having entered the territory of the Italian embassy in Damascus. This was reported by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, a video of the statement was published on December 8 on his page in the social network X (former Twitter).

"This morning an armed group entered the garden of the Italian ambassador's residence. There was no violence towards either the Ambassador or the Carabinieri. They only took away three cars and it was over," Tajani revealed.

The Italian Foreign Minister specified that the armed men were in the garden for some time. He assumed that those who broke into the residence wanted to make sure whether the soldiers of the government forces were hiding there and whether there were any documents stored there.

Tajani also noted that the day before 15 Italian citizens crossed the Syrian-Lebanese border and with the support of the embassy in Beirut were able to get into Lebanon, they are now housed in monasteries in Beirut.

The Italians in Aleppo are safe, the Foreign Minister emphasized.

"We are ready to do whatever is necessary if our compatriots are in danger, they should be helped to leave Syria, but right now we have no requests," Tajani concluded.

Earlier in the day, the Arab League (LAS) called for lifting sanctions on Syria and supporting its people. At the same time, the National Coalition of Revolutionary and Opposition Forces of Syria said it was working to form a "transitional governing body".

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as a result of negotiations with the opposition, decided to leave the post of head of state and leave the country, instructing to carry out the transfer of power peacefully. Later it became known that Assad with his family is in Moscow.

In turn, the Prime Minister of the SAR Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali said that most of the ministers of the Syrian government remain in Damascus. He emphasized that he is ready to cooperate with any leadership chosen by the people.

On November 29, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the opposition's activation part of the US plan amid Israel's defeat in Lebanon. The White House denied its involvement in the events.

On November 28, armed formations launched a major attack in Aleppo and Idlib, and the Syrian army repelled it, inflicting serious damage to the militants' equipment and manpower.
