Low-moving single mosquitoes spotted in the snow by Moscow residents are not a sign of warming soon. This is a type of winter mosquitoes that remains active even in the cold season, explained in the capital's Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection on December 8.

"There are species of insects that remain active even in the cold season. One such is winter, or snow, mosquitoes," - reported "RIA Novosti" in the dept of nature in the capital.

It is noted that such mosquitoes are found on sunny days with a small minus temperature. Long legs help insects not to overcool, maintaining the distance between the snow and the body.

Winter mosquitoes not only do not drink blood, but also do not feed at all in adulthood, adds "Gazeta.Ru".

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that heavy snowfall in Moscow will not stop until the end of the weekend. The agency noted that residents of the capital should park in safe places, avoid billboards on the streets, do not leave children unattended and be careful when driving.
