Syria says it is working on a new transitional authority


The National Coalition of Revolutionary and Opposition Forces of Syria said it was working on the formation of a "transitional governing body". A post to this effect was published on December 8 on the organization's page on the social network X (former Twitter).
"The National Coalition confirms that it is working to form a transitional governing body with full executive power <...> to achieve a free, democratic and pluralistic Syria," the post said.
Coalition representatives also indicated their desire to establish partnerships with countries in the Middle East and the world at large to "build Syria anew."
Earlier in the day, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad decided to leave the post of head of state and leave the country as a result of negotiations with the opposition.
It was also reported that the Syrian formations took control of the prison "Seidnaya" in the suburbs of Damascus. They released all the prisoners. Opposition forces also stormed the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
SAR Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali said that most of the Syrian government ministers remain in Damascus. He also emphasized that he is ready to cooperate with any leadership chosen by the people and noted that a new stage has begun in Syria's history.
On November 29, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the activation of the opposition part of the US plan against the backdrop of Israel's defeat in Lebanon. At the same time, the White House denied its involvement in the events.
A day earlier, the Syrian ministry reported that armed formations launched a major attack in Aleppo and Idlib, and the Syrian army began to repel it, causing serious damage to the equipment and manpower of militants.
