A rally was held in Khmelnytskyy to demand that the service terms of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) be clear. This was reported by the local television channel Espresso on 8 December.

According to the organizers of the rally, a bill may be presented on December 18, which will have a provision on the possibility of dismissal from the ranks of the AFU.

"There is little time left, we, our relatives and all the military are looking forward to what will be presented, and we hope that the bill will not be another disappointment, as it was in spring, when the provision on the possibility of dismissal by seniority was removed from the bill altogether," the rally organizers said in a statement.

The rally participants demand the right to voluntary dismissal after 36 months of service, while counting one day of participation in combat operations for three days of service, one day in the combat area - for two days.

Earlier, on December 6, Bloomberg reported on the growing number of desertions in the ranks of the AFU. A member of the military prosecutor's office, Oleksandr Hrynchuk, called fatigue and personal circumstances the main reason for desertion.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
