Peskov says Russia and Belarus need thoughtful integration


The integration process between Russia and Belarus is a complex process, in which there is no need to rush. This was stated by Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin on Sunday, December 8, a fragment of their conversation is cited by the Telegram channel "Vesti."
"This is a very complicated process, there is no need to rush here," Peskov said.
According to him, the two countries are independent and are discussing the issue of a single union state, while preserving their sovereignty.
"And here everything should be moderate, everything should be thought out and not lead to any contradictions," he added.
Earlier, December 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State (SSG) in Minsk that almost all the issues on the integration of Russia and Belarus, which had been controversial, have been agreed upon. The Russian leader thanked his Belarusian counterpart for the invitation to visit Minsk, as well as for the warm welcome.
In addition, Putin noted that cooperation between Russia and Belarus is based on the principle of friendship and mutual consideration of interests, and said that cooperation in the field of industry is developing with a focus on import substitution. Lukashenko said during the meeting that signing a union treaty with Russia was the right decision. According to him, Moscow and Minsk can realize their potential only in cooperation.
Earlier in the day, Putin and Lukashenko signed a treaty on security guarantees between the two countries.
