The AFU has lost more than 39.2 thousand servicemen during the fighting in the Kursk direction

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost more than 39,200 troops during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the Russian Defense Ministry said on December 8.

"Two infantry fighting vehicles, including a US-made Bradley BMP, two armored fighting vehicles, two vehicles and a mortar were destroyed," the ministry said.

It is specified that the units of the "North" group of troops hit the enemy's manpower and equipment in 11 settlements of Kursk region and seven villages of Sumy region.

The Defense Ministry noted that over the day the AFU lost more than 400 servicemen on the territory of the border areas of Kursk region.

On the eve, December 7, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the AFU lost 380 servicemen over the day in Kursk region. It was specified that an armored fighting vehicle, four vehicles and three mortars were destroyed, and three Ukrainian servicemen surrendered as prisoners of war.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The operation to destroy the militants continues.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
