Putin awards medics killed in Mi-2 helicopter crash near Kirov

Russian President Vladimir Putin has posthumously awarded the Order of Pirogov to medical workers of the air ambulance who died in the crash of a Mi-2 helicopter in Kirov region. The corresponding decree of the head of state was published on December 8 on the website of official publication of legal acts.

Thus, state awards were given to nurse Tatiana Gmyzina, nurse Sergei Shirokikh and doctor Alexander Gysku.

Ambulance workers were awarded for "professionalism and dedication, shown in the provision of medical care in extreme conditions.

The accident with the Mi-2 helicopter in Darovsky district of Kirov region became known on October 26. Then the governor of the region, Alexander Sokolov, noted that there were only medics on board in addition to the pilot. According to the latest information, four people died as a result of the crash. The footage published on October 27 shows that the fuselage of the helicopter is badly burned.

It was reported that the helicopter was operated by an experienced pilot. The Volga transport prosecutor's office started a check on the fact of the crash. In addition, a criminal case was opened under part 3 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of air transport, causing the death of two or more persons by negligence").

It was also noted that all those killed in the hard landing of the Mi-2 helicopter will be presented to state awards, and their families will receive payments of 1 million rubles.
