Syrian terrorist formations took control of Seydnaya prison in the suburbs of Damascus and released all prisoners. This was reported by Al Jazeera TV channel on December 8.

"The Syrian armed opposition said it had stormed Seydnaya prison in the Damascus suburbs," the media outlet reported.

On November 29, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the terrorists' activation part of the US plan amid Israel's defeat in Lebanon. At the same time, the White House denied its involvement in the events.

In turn, Britain, the United States, France and Germany called on all parties in Syria to de-escalate, and Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia strongly condemns the terrorists' outburst. In addition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that it is unacceptable to allow terrorists to seize land in Syria.

In the morning of December 8, the media reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had left Damascus. It was specified that the Syrian Air airplane left the airport of the capital and headed towards the coastal region of Syria, but then turned around and then disappeared from the map.
