Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali said that he was ready to cooperate with any government elected by the people. He said in a statement on his Facebook page on December 8 (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in Russia).

"This country can be a normal country that builds good relations with its neighbors and with the world <...>, but this issue depends on the new leadership. We are ready to cooperate with them," he said.

Al-Jalali added that he was not interested in "posts and perks" but in preserving the institutions of the Syrian government. He emphasized that he is ready to hand over all the necessary information to the new government that will be elected by Syrian citizens.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian radio station Sham FM reported that the employees of the international airport of the city of Damascus were evacuated.

On December 7, it became known that the Syrian army strengthens its positions in the suburbs of Damascus amid attempts of terrorists to destabilize the situation. In addition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the Doha Forum that it is unacceptable to allow terrorists to seize land in Syria.

On November 29, the Syrian army launched a counteroffensive against the positions of militants of the terrorist group and during the fighting liberated the town of al-Bakum. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the terrorists' activation part of the US plan against the background of Israel's defeat in Lebanon. At the same time, the White House denied its involvement in the events.

In turn, Britain, the United States, France and Germany called on all sides in Syria to de-escalate, and Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia strongly condemns the terrorists' outburst and reminded that the Russian Armed Forces are operating in Syria at the request of the legitimate authorities in Damascus and are fighting back against terrorists.
