The White House called China the only country capable of dislodging the United States from its leading position in the world. This was stated on December 8 at a forum organized by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation by Jake Sullivan, Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security.

"This is the only power that has the ability and, frankly, the goal to dislodge the United States from its position of world leadership militarily, economically and diplomatically. And we are determined to make sure that never happens," he said, broadcast on the Reagan Foundation's YouTube channel.

Sullivan also noted that American authorities are ready for the challenge that the PRC poses to the United States.

Earlier, on December 4, Jake Sullivan, national security adviser to current US President Joe Biden, said that in the event of a full-scale conflict with China, the US weapons stockpile could be depleted extremely quickly. In his opinion, the US should learn from the events of the past three years. At the same time, he pointed to the need to create a defense industry that can increase production not only before, but also during hostilities.

On November 20, a representative of the Pentagon's Strategic Command, Rear Admiral Thomas Buchanan, at an event at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., called on the United States to engage in a dialog with Russia, China and the DPRK.

Prior to that, on November 17, Chinese President Xi Jinping said at a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden that the United States should not interfere in the South China Sea disputes and the Taiwan issue. Prior to that, Xi Jinping told Biden about China' s readiness to work with the Trump administration.
