Pantsir-S SAM systems destroyed AFU UAVs in the Kursk border area

Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems (SAMS) have destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the Kursk Region during a combat mission. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 8.

The ministry specified that the calculations performed the task to support the units of the North group. After the Russian servicemen received the coordinates, they immediately opened fire to kill. After that, the calculation rolled up and changed its position to a new one.

The Pantsir-S SAM system is equipped with 12 anti-aircraft missiles in order to fight targets in the air. The complex is also equipped with two 30-millimeter twin-barrel cannons with 1.4 thousand rounds of ammunition.

The Pantsir-S SAM systems are conducting round-the-clock surveillance and controlling the airspace above the positions of Russian troops in the Kursk region. Their armament allows destroying any enemy targets at a very long distance.

Earlier, on December 7, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Lancet barrage munition of the "North" group of troops destroyed an AFU tank in the border area of Kursk Region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The operation to destroy the militants continues.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
