Trump has claimed Syrian militants are preparing to topple Assad

US President-elect Donald Trump reported on the preparation of militants to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He wrote about this on December 7 on his page in the social network Truth Social.
"The militants in Syria have completely taken over many cities in a well-coordinated offensive and are now on the outskirts of Damascus, apparently preparing to take very serious steps to overthrow Assad," he wrote in the post.
Trump pointed to the "mess" in Syria and urged U.S. authorities not to interfere in the unfolding conflict.
On November 29, the Syrian army launched a counter-offensive against the positions of the terrorist group's militants, who captured more than 20 settlements north and west of the city of Aleppo, and liberated the town of al-Baqoum during the fighting. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the terrorists' activation part of the US plan amid Israel's defeat in Lebanon. At the same time, the White House denied its involvement in the events.
In turn, Britain, the U.S., France and Germany called on all parties in Syria to de-escalate, and Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia strongly condemns the terrorists' outburst, and reminded that the Russian Armed Forces are acting in Syria at the request of the legitimate authorities in Damascus and fight back against terrorists.
Later, on December 5, it was reported that the Russian and Syrian Air Forces destroyed at least 300 terrorists in the SAR within a day. The operation was carried out in the provinces of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo. After that, on December 7, the Syrian Defense Ministry reported that SAA servicemen together with the Russian air force defeated terrorist groups in the north of Homs province.
