Employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Dagestan detained 12 people who were preparing a major terrorist act. This was reported in the press service of the agency on December 7.
"As a result of operational and search activities carried out by officers of the FSB in the Republic of Dagestan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan detained 12 members of a conspiracy cell of a terrorist organization banned in Russia, who were planning to carry out a major terrorist act," the report says.
During searches at the attackers were found small arms, ammunition, two improvised explosive devices, components for their manufacture, as well as 20 bags of ammonium nitrate with a total weight of 1 ton.
A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under part 1 of article 30, paragraph "a" of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code (preparation for a terrorist act committed by an organized group), part 1 of article 205.4 (creation of a terrorist community), part 2 of article 223.1 (illegal manufacture of explosives and explosive devices committed by a group of persons by prior agreement).
The detainees give confessions, the issue of preventive measure in the form of detention is being decided, added in the FSB.
December 4, it was reported that the FSB officers in Ingushetia stopped the channel, through which terrorists were financed. Thus, the detained man was collecting money to further finance the activities of the international terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS, banned in Russia. - Ed.).
