Malaysian ambassador talks about discussing direct air service with Russia


Russia and Malaysia are discussing the launch of direct flights, Malaysian Ambassador to Moscow Cheong Lun Lai said on December 7.
"Currently, both sides are trying to find a solution to launch direct flights. <...> This is in the interests of both Malaysia and Russia," TASS reports the diplomat's words.
Cheong Lun Lai added that a lot of attention is paid to the issue of direct air service between Russia and Malaysia, this topic was also raised at the talks between Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok at the Eastern Economic Forum.
Earlier, on October 23, Russian Deputy Transport Minister Vladimir Poteshkin said at the ICAN 2024 forum that Russian airlines are preparing to resume air service with Malaysia. According to him, the decision to start flights will depend on the interest of tourists and economic feasibility for carriers.
