The Russian State Military History Archive (RGVIA) has discovered a forged document - "Decree of Emperor Peter the Great of 11.11.1723". This was reported on December 7 by a source of Izvestia.
According to him, the Deputy Director of the RGVIA appealed to law enforcement agencies, indicating that on the site of the auction house International Autograph Auctions Europe S.L. in Spain at the auction put up a valuable document. It was asked to check if it belonged to the archive's holdings.
The police found a document identical to the one presented at the auction, but a closer inspection revealed that the document stored in the Russian archive is a forgery.
At the moment on the fact of the theft of the original is under investigation.
Earlier, on October 31, in France at the auction sold missing from the archives of Russia's decree of Peter II for more than € 3 thousand.
Before that, on October 25, the interlocutor of "Izvestia" reported that the Deputy Director of the Russian Military Historical Archive Vasilisa Denisova noticed that the document on "The decree of Emperor Peter II in the Military Collegium on the removal of Famentsyn from the post of commandant of St. Petersburg and the appointment of Prince G.A. Urusov in his place. September 9, 1727", turned out to be a moulage.
