- Beglov spoke about St. Petersburg's readiness to share experience in the development of medicine

In recent years, St. Petersburg has become the center of Russia's pharmaceutical industry and is now ready to share its experience and implement new projects together with partners in the Commonwealth of Independent States. This was announced by Governor Alexander Beglov during the 37th meeting of the CIS Health Care Cooperation Council.
St. Petersburg enterprises "produce advanced medicines and equipment that are in demand not only in the country, but also abroad," the governor said during the meeting, which is being held at the Almazov National Medical Research Center with the participation of Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko.
Beglov assessed that now, when "health challenges affect everyone, international cooperation becomes a necessity." "The history of the pandemic has shown that joining efforts and sharing experience saves lives," he emphasized.
The governor also noted that "the development of healthcare is among the ten priorities of St. Petersburg". The city has modernized the primary link of the health care system, increased the network of polyclinics, offices and offices of general practitioners by one and a half times. "A network of vascular centers has been created, which helped to reduce mortality from cardiovascular diseases. The conditions for diagnostics and treatment of oncological diseases have significantly improved," Beglov added.
In addition, digital technologies are successfully applied in the city's health care institutions. "Electronic medical records have been introduced, which simplified patients' access to services and improved coordination of doctors' work. Online appointment to specialists covers the entire system of polyclinics in the city," the governor noted.
"Those changes in healthcare that are taking place today under your leadership are significant and large-scale. Within the framework of the Council, we invited health care leaders from CIS countries to visit a number of St. Petersburg institutions - city and federal. Colleagues also visited pharmaceutical production facilities. They were convinced of the high quality and culture of production," emphasized Mikhail Murashko.
