The RF Ministry of Economic Development explained the situation with the refusal to accept old dollars abroad

Citizens of many countries around the world are being denied acceptance of old-style banknotes, including dollars, and this applies not only to Russians. Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) of the Russian Federation, told about it on December 7.

"It's not about Russians, the situation is all over the world. It's the same in Russia - a number of banks refuse to accept old-style banknotes," he said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Tourism Forum "Travel Hub. Travel!". His words are quoted by "RIA Novosti".

According to Kondratyev, banks thus want to secure themselves in terms of long-term money, which they have at their disposal. He added that such a trend is observed everywhere and is not associated with the infringement of the rights of Russians.

In October, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said that Russians faced mass refusals to accept cash dollars in foreign banks. In particular, in Egypt, Thailand, UAE and Turkey tourists were demanded dollars of a new sample.

In turn, on November 27, Vice President of ATOR Artur Muradyan recommended that Russian tourists when traveling abroad buy new dollars or other currency that is accepted in the country of destination, adds "Gazeta.Ru".
