Officials from Egypt and Jordan offered Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to urgently leave the republic. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal on December 6, citing sources.

"Some Arab officials urged him (Syrian President. - Ed.) to leave the country," the publication said.

According to the publication, representatives of the two countries also advised the Syrian leader to form a government in exile. According to the newspaper, Assad is still on the territory of the republic, but his family has already left the country last week.

In addition, according to the newspaper's sources, other Arab countries, including Qatar and the UAE, are increasingly concerned about the likelihood of the imminent fall of the Syrian government and destabilization in the region. They also claim that the Syrian president has asked Turkish authorities to intervene "to stop the rebels" and has also asked for weapons and intelligence support from Egypt, the UAE, Jordan and Iraq. However, all his requests were denied by Assad, the publication added.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian Defense Ministry said that the SAR servicemen together with the Russian air force were able to successfully conduct an operation and smash terrorist units in the north of Homs province.

On December 5, it became known that the Syrian army redeployed its forces outside the city of Hama in order to save the lives of civilians. At the same time, on December 3, the Syrian Defense Ministry reported about the establishment of full control over the city.

The day before that, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia strongly condemns the sortie in Syria by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorists (the organization is recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia). The post-representative drew attention to the fact that the US and its allies are supporting the militants in order to "sow chaos in Syria." He recalled that the Russian Armed Forces are operating in Syria at the request of the legitimate authorities in Damascus and are fighting back against the terrorists.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on November 30 called the activation of terrorists in Syria part of the US plan against the backdrop of Israel's defeat in Lebanon. In turn, the White House denied its involvement in what is happening. In addition, Britain, the U.S., France and Germany called on all parties in Syria to de-escalate.

On November 28, the Syrian Defense Ministry reported that terrorist groups made a major attack in Aleppo and Idlib, and the country's army began to repel it, causing serious damage to equipment and manpower of militants. The next day it became known that hundreds of terrorists in Aleppo and Idlib provinces were eliminated.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 5 that Moscow was in contact with the Syrian authorities to escalate the situation in the country. He added that depending on the assessment of the situation, it would be possible to understand what kind of assistance the Syrian authorities need.
