US urged citizens to leave Syria due to unstable situation


American citizens were advised to leave Syria due to the risk of emergency situation in the country and unstable situation. The corresponding information was published on the website of the US Embassy in Syria.
"The security situation in Syria remains unstable and unpredictable, with active clashes between armed groups continuing across the country. The State Department urges U.S. citizens to leave Syria now while commercial options remain available in Damascus," the text of the message reads.
Due to the absence of the U.S. embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus, it is specified that citizens can turn to the embassy of the Czech Republic. For those who decided not to leave the country, the U.S. authorities recommended "to prepare for the emergency and be ready to stay in shelter for a long time."
As indicated in the diplomatic mission, U.S. citizens in Syria who need emergency assistance but cannot reach the U.S. Interests Section of the Czech Embassy can contact the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan.
Earlier, on December 6, the Russian Embassy in Syria urged Russians to leave the country. It is specified that the embassy and the consular department continue to work in a normal mode.
On December 4, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia strongly condemns the sortie of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorists in Syria (the organization is recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia). The post-representative drew attention to the fact that the United States and its allies are supporting the militants in order to "sow chaos in Syria." He recalled that the Russian Armed Forces are operating in Syria at the request of the legitimate authorities in Damascus and are fighting back against terrorists.
On November 28, the Syrian Defense Ministry reported that terrorist groups launched a major attack in Aleppo and Idlib, and the country's army began to repel it, inflicting serious damage to the militants' equipment and manpower. The next day it became known that hundreds of terrorists in Aleppo and Idlib provinces were eliminated.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 5 that Moscow was in contact with the Syrian authorities to escalate the situation in the country. He added that depending on the assessment of the situation, it would be possible to understand what kind of assistance the Syrian authorities need.
